The Manchester Salford Pathfinder has a unique opportunity to restructure the housing market in areas surrounding the Manchester Regional Centre. The key objectives to achieve this are:
- To create a self-sustaining housing market that meets the needs of existing residents, along with attracting and retaining new and former residents, through the provision of a high-quality mix of housing within neighbourhoods.
- To work with other agencies and use other public and private sector investment to create and support neighbourhoods of choice, which provide, along with a quality housing offer, high-quality local educational, health, transport, retail and leisure amenities.
By 2018 MSP aims to have overseen the construction of over 30,000 new homes so that the inner parts of Manchester and Salford are repopulated and stabilised. MSP will have worked with partner agencies to ensure that the range of amenities and services are made available do deliver revitalised and sustainable neighbourhoods of choice.
