MSP received approval in December 2004 for a sub-regional European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Action Plan - Manchester and Salford Sustaining Neighbourhoods Action Plan - under Priority 2 (People and Communities) of the North West Objective 2 ERDF Programme.
Through the Action Plan, MSP manages ERDF of just over £5 million, with Manchester City Council acting as Accountable Body. This plan seeks to add value to the HMR Programme in order to help create the right neighbourhood conditions within the Pathfinder area, to encourage investment and attract new residents, through the following activities:
- Targeted streetscape and environmental enhancements.
- Alleyway treatments and alley-gating.
- Community safety provision.
- Associated neighbourhood planning and ward co-ordination.
- Transport corridor improvements.
- District centre improvements.
